As a sweet response to last weekend's unforgettable Orlando shooting, over a dozen K-9 therapy dogs have travelled to the city where they're hard at work comforting those first responders and victims involved in the shooting.

Though it may seem like nothing more effective than a gesture of goodwill, these pooches are highly trained and veterans when it comes to lifting the moods of those with whom they share a cuddle. And we thought we were done crying but we've just been set off again.

In even sweeter news, this pack of beautiful dogs were the same canines to comfort those following the Sandy Hook shooting, the Boston marathon bombing, the Oklahoma tornado and another community college attack just last year. They now live with the Lutheran Church Charities where we imagine they're treated incredibly well, given the tasks they so dutifully carry out. Originally, they hail from all around the country and if your heart is starting to swell, you can check out the dogs' individual social media page where they each have their own mission statement. They're a charitable bunch too, relying only on donations to fund their travels.

The gorgeous golden retrievers are said to have a calming effect on the victims and encourage them to open up about their sadness.

LLC Comfort Dogs president Tim Hetzner tells ABC News: They help people relax and calm down. Your blood pressure goes down when you pet a dog, you feel more comfortable, and people end up talking. They're good listeners, they're non-judgmental, they're confidential.

If you had any doubt about the healing power of 'man's best friend', this is a good place to start.

Excuse us while we dry our eyes.
