IBM decided to show off their techno-science skills by setting the Guinness World Record for the World's Smallest Stop-Motion Film with their short A Boy And His Atom. But it's not small in length, it's small in size. Atomically small. So small it needs to magnified 100 million times to be seen.

Now it may seem like a complete waste of scientific minds and resources, but to be fair, if this was reported normally the world wouldn't pay attention. So what do IBM do? Make it entertaining. Edutaining, if you will. IBM are researching all this in the name of 'Atomic Memory', hoping to one day allow data storage on an atomic level which would give unlimited capacity, or so they say.

Of course, someone has made a smartarse comment already, but it's actually quite accurate.
