It's kind of reassuring to know that even in some of the worst fog we've seen in years, pilots are still able to make it down to land.

Or should that be, auto-pilots. 

This video shows a plane coming into land at Dublin Airport using a landing system that guides the pilot down in heavy fog.

 

 

 

And yes, it is saying 'retard' - it's telling the pilot to pull back on the throttle.
