Coach Charlie Strong surprised his University of Texas football team with a pretty amazing guest speaker at practice recently, none other than Matthew McConaughey.
The worlds of acting and football only really come together in over-the-top sports movies or the rather excellent Friday Night Lights, but recently, when Matthew McConaughey showed up to a University of Texas practice to give a little speech, they once again collided in the most brilliant way.
McConaughey has been a long time supporter of the University of Texas, and his words of encouragement (along with a quick Wolf of Wall Street chest thump) obviously had the desired effect, as they went about their business in the game immediately afterwards and beat Kansas 23-0. Truly, they have been touched by the spirit of the McConnaissance.
