A damn good reason why you should always being doing this is so that you won't feel compelled to run into your home when it's ablaze to grab your laptop.
Such was the case for New Orleans writer Gideon Hodge when his house caught fire. Without really considering the risks, Hodge sprinted back into his home to retrieve his laptop which he said contained two unpublished novels.

"Despite my better sense, I just ran inside and grabbed it. I didn’t think to be scared," Hodge told the New Orleans Advocate.
