You'll likely recall how the O’Donovan brothers, Gary and Paul from Skibbereen, became not only silver medalists and Olympic champions last year but also a viral sensation in the wake of the colourful post-race interviews they gave.

This morning, the Irish can be proud of their rowing again having won three medals at the European Rowing Championships in the Czech Republic.

Among them were Gary and Paul, who won a a silver medal in the men's lightweight double skulls.

Additionally, Mark O'Donovan and Shane O'Driscoll secured a gold medal in the men's lightweight pairs final.

"I told you we'd beat the Brits," O'Donovan told RTE Sport triumphantly. The two talk about being starved, puking and having some whiskey before the race, and it is just hilarious.

 

Moments after Mark and Shane's victory, their clubmate Denise Walsh won a silver medal in the women's lightweight single skulls. Her interview was crashed by the pair, who observed she was wearing her lucky socks and accidentally swore:

 

The O'Donovan brothers also reflected on their win – the highlight of which comes at the end, when the subject matter, again, turns to food. Well, food is life.
