As part of the series of events being held in Limerick to mark it being the City of Culture, a giant marionette of an old lady came to life, and this fantastic footage captured it all.

Jean-Luc Courcoult and his world renowned Royal de Luxe street theatre company brought their latest project to Limerick over the weekend in the form of an Irish Grandmother Giant, who fell from the sky and found herself in the middle of a field, as the story goes, anyway.

On Saturday, as the Giant crossed Thomond Bridge to King John’s Castle, Tony Grehan used a drone and a GoPro to capture this footage as she made her way around the city, and the throngs of people who turned out to see her.

The event itself seems pretty surreal, but there's no doubting that it was one of the biggest that Limerick has ever hosted, and the turnout was fantastic across the three days.
