Fights fans were given a treat at this weekend's UFC event in London with a night of great fights and a reasonable start time, meaning that we didn't have to wait up until all hours for the event to get going as we do when they're held in Vegas or California. The fight card didn't disappoint, either. Dubliner Neil Seery lost a unanimous decision to his world-ranked opponent Brad Pickett in a very close scrap. It was fitting that Pickett, whose nickname is 'One Punch', had to resort to taking the fight to the mat to eek out a decision victory against Seery who was continually gaining the upper hand in the bouts striking battles. Whatever the outcome, Seery gained himself a rake of new fans worldwide owing to his gritty display.

Elsewhere in the event Swede Alexander Gustafsson underlined his status at the #1 contender in the Light Heavyweight Division with a one-sided victory over the then undefeated Brit Jimi Manuwa. Michael Johnson continued his recent resurgence with a 'W' over the disappointing Melvin Guillard and Iceland's Gunnar Nelson - who spends a lot of time training in Dublin - easily submitted the Russian Omari Akhmedov with a first round guillotine choke.

Speaking of that last bout, one of Nelson's Icelandic fans made edited a perfect video of his win at the weekend, editing in some pretty relevant comments from none other than David Attenborough. Check it out at this link!
