Wow. Between this and Gerry Adams' recent tweets regarding Django Unchained, you'd be forgiven for thinking some of the members of Dail Eireann were taking a leaf out of Donald Trump's guide to becoming successful in politics.

Addressing a rather empty-looking Dail earlier today, the Kerry TD he had the following thoughts regarding climate change: "God above is in charge of the weather and we here can’t do anything about it." Discussing the intrinsics of climate change, he added: "If we go back to the 11th and 12th centuries this country was roasted out of it and in the 15th and 16th centuries were were drowned out of it." Therefore it has nothing to do with emissions.

As for the carbon tax, he's not a fan: "It is hurting the young fellow going to work in the morning. It is hurting the fellow with a lorry on the road. It is hurting those with tractors on farms... “If agricultural emissions increase because of our other plans, then we will have a fundamental problem… Will we say to the rest of the world following the Paris agreement that it should count Ireland out?"
