Poor love. She clearly didn't want to do it. That's peer pressure for you, it never ends. Then again, she has been practicing in her bathroom, so perhaps she was just playing coy...

The Queen actress was named Harvard University's Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year 2014 which saw her honoured with a parade, where she was driven around the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in a convertible with members of the university's theatre troop dressed in drag.

A little later, at the ceremony to collect her award, she fielded a number of questions and was a good sport when asked to shake her bottom vigorously in front of a room of baying students. She then admitted to having practiced before. She said: "[I] tried in my bedroom. It was absolutely humiliating."

The 68-year-old was also asked such highbrow questions as "who would win in a fight between her and Meryl Streep", to which she graciously replied: "Meryl would win, definitely. She's bigger, stronger and mentally stronger than I am." The only way to be sure is to ask Meryl Streep to twerk in public.

The British actress also praised Beyonce, saying: "I thinks she's quite extraordinary. I had the great opportunity to be on the same stage as her, not on the same time, but I was in the wings ... She had this incredible sense of concentration and energy and preparation. I was very impressed by that. Standing in the wings watching her was this explosion of energy. Quite spectacular.:

This year's Hasty Pudding Man of the Year is Neil Patrick Harris, who will be honoured in another ceremony, held next Friday (07.02.14). One can only hope they make him consume his own body weight in cocktails.
