The NFL and its neighbour to the north, the CFL, differ in a few key ways, one of them being the size of the field.

In the CFL, the endzone is slightly longer, and they put the goalposts at the front of it, so that that kickers have a better chance of making it, we presume. That does however lead to the odd problem, because they refuse to shape them like rugby goalposts for some reason, and leave them with one, large pole holding up the structure in the middle of the endzone.

You can probably see where this is going, but poor wide receiver Mitch Thompson in the collegiate competition (the catchily-named Canadian Interuniversity Sport football) for the Regina Rams didn't, as he ended up running straight into the goalpost in a game this weekend against the Manitoba Bisons.

In case you needed to see that in a longer format, here's the full video. Still looks hugely unpleasant.
