Turning classic 2D drawings into 3D renderings generally doesn't work.

There always seems to be something just a little bit off about the whole thing. Maybe it's because it feels intrusive to our nostalgic memories of our favourite strips?

There are always exceptions to the rule though and artist Gabriel de Laubier's transformation of Bill Waterson's classic comic strip, Calvin and Hobbes into an interactive 3D scene is just that.

Each panel is like a window into Calvin and Hobbes' world and it's pretty surreal to see them in that format. We wholeheartedly recommend you taking a look at the clip below and at de Laubrier's online portfolio which documents how he did it.
