Yes there's a Broadway musical version of Aladdin, no it's not exactly the same and yes, it does have all the songs so if you love the animated film you should go see it. But all that is beside the point, as the show wouldn't have existed without the success of the film which wouldn't have been so successful were it not for the input of the dearly departed Robin Williams as the Genie.

Broadway dimmed its lights for Williams last night, and on Tuesday evening after their show the cast of Aladdin, led by James Monroe Iglehart who plays their Genie, honoured the memory of Williams and tipped their hat to the man who made them who they are with a dedicated singalong of 'Friend Like Me'.

Here's a shorter version of just the musical tribute, but you should really watch both videos, as James Monroe Iglehart's speech about Williams is a wonderful tribute to the legend that was.
