Aussie Rules is a rough enough game at the best of time, but Brian Lake and Drew Petrie took things a bit far over the weekend with this vicious punch up.
Seeing the odd few punches thrown in a physical game like Aussie rules isn't exactly a shocking thing, given how tempers can flare during confrontations, but on Friday night, the game between North Melbourne and Hawthorn saw a very extreme example of that between two players.
After a coming together which sees Drew Petrie strip Brian Lake of the ball, Lake responds with a very rough tackle that slams Petrie to the ground, at which point he tries to choke the player out.
It's hugely aggressive, not to mention extremely dangerous, and has made plenty of headlines as a result, given that it looks more like it belongs inside the octagon than out on a pitch.
