Just in case the world ends and you need to start hunting and eating all the local creatures great and small, Newsnight last displayed how to skin, prepare, cook and eat the common squirrel.
The segment, billed as 'comment on our increasingly confused realities with meat production' featured environmentalist George Monbiot going to town a squirrel purchased from a farm shop in lieu of some roadkill, which is how most of us would come across a dead squirrel until the apocalypse arrives and we all go full Cormac McCarthy on the world.
Definitely not a watch for the squeamish, but Monbiot does raise valid points about meat production and waste. As for the taste? 'Just like chicken' is the answer you're probably expecting. Not so much is the real answer.
