Japanese television is a strange and beautiful place.

More strange than beautiful, in fairness. It's kind of amazing just how weird it can get and yet nobody seems to acknowledge it whatsoever. It truly does show the massive cultural divide between Eastern and Western pop culture.

With that in mind, here's an American (we're guessing) guy who's been studying Japanese freaking out on TV about kanji. Wikipedia tells us that kanji is "a system of Japanese writing using Chinese characters, used primarily for content words."

No idea what that means.

Yeah, no idea what's going on here. We turned on Subtitles and we still don't know what's happening. At all.

Why is there people laughing or, y'know, judging his act? Is this a talent show? Not a clue.
