The fighting pride of Crumlin, UFC featherweight ' Notorious' Conor McGregor is less than two weeks away from his second fight in the Octagon. After disposing of Marcus Brimage (who was undefeated in the UFC) in just 67 seconds last April, McGregor's second test inside the Octagon will come in the shape of 21-year-old Hawaiian Max Holloway, a fighter who is seen as one of the brightest young talents in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

The fight will take place on national television in the US, meaning McGregor's fight will be beamed into around 90 million homes in the United States and a win will propel him further up the divisional rankings towards a title shot against current 145lb champion Jose Aldo, a fighter who has gone over eight years without tasting defeat.

It's relatively early days in McGregor's UFC career so any talk of a title shot might seem a little presumptuous a right now, but a win for Conor against Holloway on August 17th in Boston could mean that we could see the Dub receiving a world title shot in around 18 months from now after a couple more wins.

What is it that makes McGregor such a fierce opponent? Well, renowned MMA analyst Jack Slack has put together a short and informative video which examines exactly why McGregor's techniques inside the cage are so effective. Check it out below the fold.

Conor McGregor will face Max Holloway on August 17th at the TD Garden in Boston at UFC Fight Night: Shogun v Sonnen. You can view this on Setanta Sports. Visit their site for more information.
