Talk about making an inspired substitution...

Managers really value a player on the team that they can put out there who can totally change a game, or someone they know will be like an extension of themselves out on the pitch, that will help the team to execute the game plan to a tee. For Grays Athletic of the Ryman Isthmian League (a semi-pro regional football league covering London, East and South East England), that man is player manager Mark "Super Benno" Bentley.

Last week, during a match against their rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough, he subbed himself on with his team 2-1 down. He slotted in at the back, and scored the equaliser within a few minutes of introducing himself to the game, a solid start.

But he wasn't finished there. After Grays saw their 'keeper sent off for violent conduct with just under 10 minutes to go, there was only one man for the job; Bentley again. He saved the penalty, and then with just 10 men, his side went on to grab a late, dramatic winner.

Suffice to say we think he should probably win man of the match.
