The biggest game of the NFL season every year, people around the world all dream of getting to attend the Super Bowl, but for two Irish guys it all came true this weekend, and in some style too.

The two men, Paul McEvoy, from Cahir in Tipperary, and Richard Whelan from Dublin, managed to blag their way into the NFL's showpiece game of the season after arriving at the stadium without tickets. They checked with the touts outside the ground, but couldn't afford what they were asking for, so decided that they would chance their arm.

Despite doing their best to blag some tickets from the folks at the NFL Network, they were still empty handed as kick off approached, and speaking to Morning Ireland today, they said that they decided to walk through the front door and "just thought if we pretend we belong there, nobody will question us".

As it turns out, they were right, as they managed to get past one layer of security in to the biggest game of the season. "Paul was looking at his phone, pretending to text me", Richard said, "as if we had just popped out to look at an email we got or something. We walked past another security guard that just wasn't paying attention [and] we could see the field then, the stadium and the atmosphere was insane. I remember looking at Paul's face, we just couldn't believe we got in!".

They spent the first part of the game moving from seat to seat, but at half-time they told one guy they were chatting to that they had sneaked in, and he said the two girls next to him wouldn't be back, as they were involved in the halt-time show, so he suggested they sit with him.

The two ended up four rows from the field, in seats that were worth around $50,000 (€44,100), and were even seated next to former Super Bowl champ Lawyer Milloy, who gave them a play-by-play commentary on the game.

Despite being a Seahawks fan, Richard even got a picture of the Patriots mascot holding the Irish flag at the big game. He left disappointed as his team lost on the big stage, but the pair seemed pretty happy to have made it to the big event without having to shell out for some of the seats in the house.

Their day of blagging wasn't finished there however, as they managed to skip the queues and get a VIP bus straight back to their hotel. The luck of the Irish, we suppose...
