I'm beginning to suspect that Jay Leno tinkers with his guests' drinks before he goes on air to interview them.

Of late, he's encouraged Heidi Klum to show the world the little bag which houses her teeth (to recap, she keeps them with her at all times as "there's no tooth fairy in Germany"). He's also encouraged Puff Daddy to declare his foot phobia. And now there's Tom Cruise.

The video, which lasts a whole five minutes, shows Tom talking about his "special" plans for Katie's birthday and how her work is going. There's also an amusing moment when he divulges the extensive criteria he gave to Ben Stiller when devising his Tropic Thunder cameo: "I told Ben 'I wanna have fat hands and I wanna dance'." Then, if you skip to around the 5 mins 19 seconds mark, you'll see him deliver a self-conscious yet excruciatingly tone deaf version of Blue Suede Shoes, without much coercion from Leno. He even manages to throw in a few unnerving hip humps. Now THAT'S an innovative way of promoting a film about conscientious Natzis.

And, yes, he does look like Christian Bale in the photo to your right.
