Ashley is now blaming Cheryl for their marriage ending, like most insecure greedy juvenile minds would. Instead of laying fault at the gusset of his manties, he is instead cursing Cheryl's career and the presence of her mother in their house (you might recall Joan moved in after Ashley did the hairdresser two years ago).
Sources have cited Joan's presence in the couple's Surrey home as a "passion killer" and "their sex life had dwindled to virtually nothing." Surely that's not Joan's fault; they've been married for nearly four years, doesn't sex cessation come with the territory?
As for the career bit, Ashley decided to leave a note for Cheryl to read upon her arrival home from LA. Which was nice of him: "One minute Ashley is grovelling and apologising for his betrayals and the next he is blaming her successful career for the split. Cheryl has been told Ashley strayed because he felt so alone in their marriage. Whilst she was off working he was either at home alone, or in a hotel room playing video games while away with Chelsea."
Boo friggin' hoo. As with most spoiled men, Ashley is naturally turning to his mother, Susan, in his time of "need" *waves at Tiger Woods*. The Sun reports: "Cole bombarded Cheryl with calls and voicemails after she ditched him by text from the US. When she did not reply, Susan rang to try to explain his feelings. Seething Cheryl left the calls unanswered. A source said: 'The mothers have understandably become embroiled in the marriage break-up. Joan is comforting her daughter (again) while Ashley's mum has tried to make the peace. Obviously she loves him no matter what and believes the marriage could have been saved."
In other news. John Terry's reportedly offering Cheryl a body part to cry on. Cheryl is to get her Mrs C tattoo either removed or modified (might we suggest the addition ex and unt) And it's nice to see celebrities have to go through the same indignities as us norms when going through airport customs.
