If you happen to be a proud redhead, don't be surprised if strangers grab you at some point today and try to lob the gob.
Why? Because today, January 12th, is 'International Kiss a Ginger Day', a (sort-of official) celebration that began as a Facebook group in 2009, in retaliation for the rather mean-spirited 'Kick a Ginger Day' established the previous year.
As the official website explains, "the latter resulted in numerous ginger kids being assaulted at school, stirring international outrage and condemnation." Kiss a Ginger Day, on the other hand, is all about spreading the love.
So in other words, if you find yourself near a ginger today, make sure to give them a smacker (with permission, of course).
