Following the news last year that Anton Savage would be leaving Today FM, it's left a gap in the radio station's schedule. This week Dermot and Dave moved down to the morning slot of 9am-12pm, but that of course means their former lunchtime spot is up for grabs.

The two hosts spent the morning building up to just who would be landing the conveted gig, and they revealed the news just after 11am.

And it is.... Al Porter!

The comedian previously presented the Drivetime show on 2FM alongside Colm Hayes.

The 24-year-old will be hosting the lunchtime show daily from 12pm to 2.30pm, kicking off on February 13th.

Al told Dermot and Dave this morning what he would like the show to be saying, "I want it to be very light, very feel good. There will be a lot of music and a lot of chat."

"I've considered calling it Al Porter's Breakfast Show as that's the time I normally get up at," he joked.

Al added that he won't be too bothered about getting celebrity guests in, "I'm more about real people and the punters."

Congrats Al!
