There's a bit of a battle of the airwaves going on down in the Rebel County of late, and it seems that the latest move by one of the fighters is proving to be fanning the flames.

Having recently seen the transfer of big players, including our pal KC from Today FM, the ongoing war over listenership between Red FM and Cork's 96 FM heated up last week when listener magnet Neil Prendeville was gearing up to launch his new slot on Red FM.

Prendeville, who you'll remember for his own version of Snakes On A Plane that landed him in a lot of hot water, jumped ship to Red FM after years of service on the 96FM airwaves.

96FM previously supported Prendeville throughout his, erm, "incident" and welcomed him back with open arms once everything died down.

What they didn't do, unfortunately, is take his departure that well, and ran this ad last week.

To be fair if you're not Neil Prendeville it could be considered funny. But the reaction from his obviously loyal listeners after his first show this morning probably says a lot about where exactly they'll be turning their knobs too
