The water protests have been ongoing for a while now, so it should come as little surprise that they've become a source of inspiration for some of Ireland's more creative types.

One company based in Drogheda has come up with a mobile game based on the water protests, that sees you take on the role of a water meter installer who has to do his job against all the odds.

Water Meter Dash lets you step into the shoes of Peter Splash, a water meter man who's trying to get around the town to collect as many readings as possible, all while dodging protestors, dogs, government ministers trapped in cars and other obstacles.

Unsurprisingly, it's an Irish company behind it in the form of Nebula Interactive, which is run by Managing Director, Colin Guilfoyle, while the game was designed by Adam Green, and graphic artists Leeann Hamilton and Heather Spratt.

The game is available to download on the Google Play store and from iTunes for free, so you don't have to spend any of your water charges money on it.
