Yes, if you watched that episode of Futurama, it's basically the same thing.

A piece of space debris, titled WT1190F, is headed straight for Earth and is expected to hit our atmosphere next month. No need to worry, though.

The piece of rubbish itself is only one to two metres long, however satellite imagery is so accurate now that astrophysicists are able to track the precise location and moment it'll make landfall.

The debris, which is understood to be a piece from an Apollo mission, will hit somewhere in the waters around South Sri Lanka on 6.19AM on November 13th. It's been speculated that it's an empty fuel canister, however scientists are eagerly tracking its trajectory to see what it is.

It was first spotted on February 18th 2013, however it was then lost on scopes before being rediscovered on October 3rd when it came into view.

Anyone remember how Night Of The Living Dead started? Falling satellite bits. So if we start seeing zombies around Sri Lanka, we'll know.
