You or may not know this, but Grand Theft Auto was originally created in the UK by a small team of programmers and developers

Rockstar Games, which was formed by two American brothers living in England, has become a multinational corporation with offices across the globe.

Grand Theft Auto, by extension, has become a worldwide smash and firmly ingrained itself in popular culture.

As part of the BBC's Make It Digital scheme, a number of documentaries and drama series are being produced to help showcase Britain's digital and programming skills.

A drama series concerning Sam and Dan Houser's journey from indie game developers to international rockstars (pardon the pun) will soon begin production for the Beeb.

There's been no casting news as yet, but it's understood the series will follow the creation of the first Grand Theft Auto game and follow right up to the current iteration, as well as the massive controversy the game caused upon its initial release.

Meanwhile, as we reported yesterday, GTA Online has introduced the long-awaited Heist Mode. Get on that.
