This asteroid might be rather large, and charging towards us at a speed the average human mind could barely comprehend, but - despite what all the Doomsday experts have to say (they say the world's going to end between September 22nd and September 28th; so the timing of this asteroid is kind of unfortunate) - NASA says its not going to hit us. It'll just "zoom" past us.

For those looking for a further update to last Friday's bit of comforting news regarding Asteroids "2004 BL86" and "2014 YB35"; this rock is 270-metres and goes by the name "2012 TT5". Again, however, NASA has released a statement saying: "NASA knows of no asteroid or comet currently on a collision course with Earth, so the probability of a major collision is quite small."

If that wasn't any solace for you, Asteroid Watch posted the below tweet...

According to sources, "conspiracy theorists are worried the particle physics experiment could send out a massive magnetic field that could draw a massive asteroid to the planet with devastating consequences. Scientists operating the experiment 75 metres under the French-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland, insist it is impossible."

As a child who grew up in the 80s, we were forever living in fear of Nostradamus's prophecies, so whenever a "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE TODAY" story starts doing the rounds, the usual response is now "Ah, sure look it, we're still here." If anything, it's an excuse to go treat yourself if you can.

In other news, there will be a "total eclipse" of the moon on September 28th. The Blood Moon will last approximately an hour and 10 minutes - at 3:47am in the morning. A box of Jaffa Cakes by the bed might help.
