Although it gave birth to some very niche jokes and memes - really, just say AND THEY WERE ROOMMATES to someone and see what happens - it looks like Vine is officially gone for good.
Previously, Vine co-creator Dom Hoffman had announced that he was working on an app that would essentially see it return as V2. However, in a post yesterday on Twitter (who subsequently bought Vine and then shuttered it), Hoffman confirmed the news that V2 wasn't moving forward.

"I didn’t expect to write this even a few weeks ago, but I’ve made the very difficult decision of postponing the V2 project for an indefinite amount of time," said Hoffman, and added that the main reason was due to "financial and legal hurdles." In the days leading up to its shuttering, there were numerous attempts - even an offer from Pornhub - to save the app.
"I’m very, very sorry for the disappointment. If it’s any consolation, I think it would have been even more disappointing if this service had been developed and released incorrectly, which is where we were headed. I’d like for us to get it right," said Hoffman.
Whether or not V2 sees the light of day remains to be seen, but we'll always have memories such as these.
