T'was a busy enough day for photographers on both sides of the heaving Atlantic yesterday. Usually, America looks to Europe (primarily Paris, but London often gets a nose in) for style tips. Well, if yesterday's offerings are taken into account, wily stateside sorts need look no further.
In the New York corner, we have The Tribeca Ball, boasting a sophisticated guest list comprising ofParker Posey, Olivia Palermo, Helena Christensen, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly.
Meanwhile, at Landan's - eh - Boogie Woogie Gala, there's conjoined premiere twins Daisy Lowe and Jamie Winstone (both wearing dresses I personally blame for goading the sun back into hiding); the latter's unsettling sister (Lois went with a jaw deflecting eyeshadow ensemble, which only served to make her a paparazzi beacon, which in turn led to the frenzied snogging of a random woman infront of her date, and a partner switcheroo at the end of the night. However, unlike her sister, Lois does serve a purpose; she makes Jamie look like the mature one); that Next mannequin band Blake that keep turning up everywhere;Cinders McHoochybell auditioning for Swan Lake: A Mae West Interpretation; a desolate Gillian Anderson (who, for the purpose of this segment, went to the trouble of coming as the the Atlantic), a lone forlon head bobbing across a swirling tie-dye sea; and Michael bleedin' Barrymore (apologies Michael, but every time I calp eyes on you - no matter how jaunty you look - my brain is swiftly hijacked with a mental wallpaper of a cadaver floating face down in a swimming pool).
In London's defence, however, they had a Beatle spawn, and a member of their crew managed to pull off one of the hardest manouveres in fashion - the tasteful nipple slip. Hats/various other garments off to you, Margo Stilley.
