Swap your barbecue for an umbrella, the outlook for the weekend is not good.

If you're making plans to spend the Bank Holiday weekend outside enjoying the sunshine, then you might want to rethink your strategy as Met Éireann are predicting that it's going to be a wet one. The rest of the week will see showers on and off with some sunny spells, but as we head into Friday, you can expect there to be "widespread, locally heavy showers, fresh and gusty west to northwest winds, and temperatures well below normal for the end of May".

That outlook doesn't get any better as the weekend progresses, as while there be some dry and bright conditions on Saturday, the rain will return that evening and will clear for a while before returning later on Sunday. Monday looks like "it will become rather windy and wet, with the likelihood of a spell of heavy rain in most areas", with temperatures lower than normal all over the country. Those unpleasant and unsettled conditions will continue into next week too, so we have that to look forward to, we suppose.

Yay.
