There were some fantastic stories last week of people coming home to vote from all over the world, and it seems that it caught the attention of people around the world.

The hashtag that accompanied those stories, some of which were pretty epic, brought them far and wide, and Twitter has decided to recognise the impact that it had on people both here in Ireland and further afield.

A wall in the headquarters of the company ion San Francisco will have the hashtag printed on it, at least for the next while, as a gesture to all those who made the journey and who shared their stories.

The wall has previously had other hashtags emblazoned on it, including #Ferguson, after the dramatic events unfolded there, so it appears this is a space reserved for important messages along these lines. While it might not last forever, it's still worth remembering that the vote was big news abroad as well as here at home.
