While today mostly feels like this:

There are some silver linings so far from the budget for 2014, including:

€500 million is going to be put aside in 25 'pro-business' measures, whatever that means.

The hospitality industry tax rate of 9% will be retained while air travel tax is to be abolished from April 1st, which should give tourism a nice boost.

There's going to be a €2 billion investment from NAMA, which will include 4,500 new homes in Dublin.

Things are looking up in general for the country with employment and GDP expected to grow slightly while the budget deficit is forecast to fall.

There's going to be no increase in income tax, USC, tax rates or VAT, so your paycheck should look more or less the same for the next 12 months.

Child Benefit is being left alone, and 1,250 new teachers will find themselves leading class in 2014.
