Tesco have sourced what they're calling the hottest chilli to ever have been commercially grown in the UK, and now they're about to lay down the gauntlet for the biggest "I dare you" ever.

The Komodo Dragon measures 1.4million on the Scoville scale, which is how you measures the spicy of a chilli seemingly. We didn't know how strong that was either, until we went and found out that a jalapeno pepper measures 3,500, and a Scotch Bonnet comes in at 350,000. So yeah, we won't be trying it anytime soon.

Tesco have said that the chilli has a delayed reaction, lulling you into a false sense of confidence before hitting you with the mother of all burnt soup tongue. It's said to take 10 seconds to kick in, which is just about long enough.

The chilli went on sale today in 500 UK Tesco's for just a pound, which seems like a bargain for one of the cruelest jokes you could ever play on someone.
