This week, one of the biggest electronics fairs in the world is taking place in Las Vegas, and we're sure to see a lot of great tech, but few may be as life-changing as this...

That's right people, the WiFi kettle that could revolutionise how Irish people live their lives. No more "get up and put on the kettle there, would ya?", no more arguments over who did it last time and whose turn it is to make the pot of tea, all can be done with a simple flick of an app on a touchscreen phone, so that even removes the flick bit.

Scientists have done a lot of stuff that turned out to be good for humanity, but we think that this can probably go down as their finest achievement. The kettle, made by Smarter, allows you to save a few minutes or get an extra bit of shut-eye by using the WiFi to connect to the device and boil your water, as well as having a 'keep warm' feature and different temperature settings for fancy teas and different coffees and what not. This truly is the future.

The device has already been on sale on their website (and was obviously a big hit over Christmas), but is getting a lot of attention after being spotted at CES in Las Vegas this week, alongside the bean to cup WiFi coffee machine, which will also change lives for the better all over Dublin's southside.

There is the small issue of actually having to make the tea, which may still cause the odd argument, but at least the misery has been taken out of turning on the kettle.
