Falling off the stage is one of the things you really want to avoid in life if you're a performer - but it happened to Stephen Fry last week.

Fans have expressed concern for the actor and author after he fell two metres off a stage at London's O2 arena after giving a speech at a tech event - and he has not posted on social media since.

The 66--year-old Fry was giving the keynote speech at CogX, an AI and tech conference, and was making his way offstage when he lost his balance and fell six feet, according to the Mail Online. He is believed to have suffered injuries to his leg and ribs and exited the venue in a wheelchair.

Their source said: "It looked like it was too dark and there didn't look like there was a handrail. He fell two metres to the floor. He looked to have been hurt as he had to leave in a wheelchair."

A spokesperon for the event said: "We were deeply concerned to hear of Stephen's accident after giving his inspirational speech on the impact of AI.

"We are thinking of him and wishing him a swift recovery. We have opened our own enquiry and until then we are not able to share any further details."

It is not clear whether Fry is still in hospital, as his reps have not responded when asked to comment.
