A number of stickers have appeared on businesses, from restaurants to cafes, in Austin that proclaim that the establishments are "for white people only".

The stickers have an official air, as they bear the seal of the city, and state that there should be a maximum of "5 colored customers" inside. The stickers were discovered early yesterday morning and were removed as soon as they were spotted.

The Mayor of Austin Steve Adler is not impressed with the recent appearance of these offensive stickers, saying that "our city is a place where respect for all people is a part of our spirit and soul. We will keep it that way".

There seems to be no explanation for the stickers themselves, but some people are speculating that it might be a commentary on the gentrification of certain areas of Austin. As yet there is no idea how many businesses were targeted, or who is responsible for the vandalism, but investigations are underway to try and find out.
