Christmas is long over but that doesn't mean it's the end of the snowy sneachta season.

For any international readers, "sneachta" means snow in Irish, which is why you're seeing it trending all over social media in Ireland right about now.

We go nuts for snow, seeing as we don't get a lot of it (you know, from the North Atlantic Drift and that, as we learned in Geography as kids).

The sneachta we're seeing now is not quite the Beast from the East of March 2018, nor can it match the Big Snow of 2009-10.

But the snow is sticking, which is unusual enough for us. Moreover, it's pretty and magical, so who's to complain?

Here a few of the most scenic, surprising and sweet sneachta scenes from around the country, as shared on Twitter and Instagram.
