It was Ryan Reynold’s 42nd birthday yesterday, so inevitably, he took to social media to mark the occasion. Others also celebrated the day with various messages to the ‘Deadpool’ star.

Early in the day, Reynolds (in a way) thanked the man who made his birthday possible in the first place.

Sharing a photograph from his childhood where he posed beside his Dad in front of a birthday cake, the actor wrote: “Happy Birthday to me. Or as Dad used to affectionately say, “the condom broke.””

Reynolds also used the day to get voting and encouraged others to do the same (a la Taylor Swift’s campaigning of late).

As well as Instagram, Reynolds also shared that he had voted on Twitter:

His wife, Blake Lively, also shared a photo from the polling station and for once didn’t troll her hubby, captioning the pic: “Happy Birthday to 2018’s Sexiest Voter Alive @vancityreynolds #justvoted #absenteeballot party!”

She wasn’t the only one with a birthday message for Reynolds either.

His bestie Hugh Jackman also sent him good wishes with a pic of them hugging (which seems to be from that day that Deadpool crashed a happy birthday message he was trying to send on Twitter).

He captioned: “Because I’m told that I AM THE NICEST GUY and you’re NOT. @VancityReynolds ... I will let you hug me. Just this once. On your birthday.”

Reynolds, not to be outdone, retweeted the message with the following:

Last but not least, Warner Brothers also sent the actor a happy birthday message, referencing not ‘Deadpool’ but that other superhero movie that Reynolds is infamous for.

They captioned the genius tweet: “In brightest day, in blackest night, you won't want to ignore our party invite. Happy Birthday, @vancityreynolds!”

Given Ryan Reynolds tends to be King of Twitter, we think it’s only fair he gets a bit of slagging on his big day.
