Susan Schneider has revealed that Robin Williams was in the 'early stages' of the illness but was not ready to announce it.
She released a statement, saying: "Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly."
Robin, 63, was found at his home in California on August 11th and Susan hopes his tragic death will encourage other people to seek help before their own troubles become too much.
She added: "It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid."
On the subject of Parkinsons, a close relative of mine has been living with it for many years. He's found the right balance of exercises and medication, so he can enjoy life to the full - that includes an array of activities, but his favourite is demolishing a 99 in approximately 90 seconds. His wit is as sharp as a tack, his grin lights up a room, and he's one of the best granddads going.
As Susan said, There is help out there, for whatever battles you may be facing.
