The late, great Rik Mayall suffered an "acute cardiac event" in his home after returning from a morning run his wife, Barbara Robbins, has said.
The Bottom and Young Ones star and writer shocked the comedy world with his passing, causing Twitter to erupt in collective mourning. We're still not over it to be honest.
He wife said, "He had just returned from his usual run and many people had seen him that morning."
She seemed genuinely touched by the response of his fans, peers and the media; "For their discretion at this time and for all the wonderful coverage that you have given Rik - it would have made him very happy".
Adding finally, "We always knew that Rik was well loved but we are all overwhelmed by so many joining us in our grief."
RIP Rik. Bottom alone gave us more laughs than we could ever thank you for.
