It's been revealed by the Sunday Times that a massive conspiracy has taken place inside FIFA involving secret slush funds by Qatari officials to sway votes for the country's hosting of the 2022 World Cup. The newspaper alleges that Mohammed bin Hammam, former vice-president of FIFA, paid up to £5 million in bribes and has a cache of e-mails to prove it.

This comes just two weeks before the Brazil World Cup, which itself has been dogged by delays in construction and demonstrations against the event.

The current vice-president of FIFA, Jim Boyce, has said that he would have no problem with having another vote for the 2022 World Cup if that was what was recommended.

Sepp Blatter's position as FIFA president is now looking increasingly tenuous, given that he presided over the voting process. Already, British politicians involved in London's bid to host the 2022 World Cup have called for Blatter's resignation.
