They're also changing the shape of two of your favourites and it's a move that's we are not happy about.

Long a staple of Christmases and other occasions in homes all over Ireland, Cadbury's Roses were supposed to be a timeless classic that we could rely on. Unfortunately, the people at Roses HQ have decided that the days of twisty foil wrappers on the chocolate are over.

According to iNews, Cadbury have done away with the twist wrappers in favour of 'flow wrappers' which were introduced partially last year "in a move to address consumer complaints". Apparently the chocolate maker's number one complaint from customers was the unwrapping of sweets in the box.

Cadbury marketing manager Claire Low said: "The number one complaint about CadburyRoses in 2014 was around the issue of poorly wrapped chocolates tainting the flavours of other chocolates in the tub. We wanted to take steps to ensure quality is of the highest standard in every pack."

"Although we appreciate there may be some traditionalists who still love the old twist wrap, it is important to us to ensure that we listen to the majority of our customers and address their issues by delivering Cadbury Roses in the highest quality."

Fan favourites Hazel in Caramel and Coffee Escape have also undergone a controversial redesign, with the new shape supposedly allowing them to "melt in the mouth easily and result in a longer moment of joy".

"Holding the chocolate in your mouth and letting it melt slightly before you bite will allow for maximum flavour and the moment of enjoyment will last even longer. That’s why we’ve opted for this new design, as the more rounded and smoother shape fits better to the contours of your mouth, creating a better melt in the mouth experience," said Dave Shepherd, head of innovation at Cadbury and destroyer of traditions.

It's the end of an era.
