Christ, she's been dead for less than a month and already there's a scramble over how to depict her "story." On the telly, I might add. Not the big screen. Which seems like a bit of a waste.
TV bosses are reportedly looking for an actress to portray the late Winehouse in a bio-series about her life/existence. According to The Sun, discussions have been held with her family (Mitch) and plans are already underway to bring her story to the small screen.
A source said, "The feeling is there wouldn't be an actress under 30 who wouldn't want to play her. The first job is to get financial backing from co-production companies in the States. Some are showing interest because it's a sure-fire money-spinner. They know anything Amy-related is going to be a huge success." Now that she's dead, of course.
So, after the financial backing is boxed off, all producers need to do is try and coax the presumed legion of Winehouse wannabes into forming an orderly queue before they're informed they'll need to lose half their body weight, some of their teeth, have tattoos painted onto their body daily, and hoist around a neck-breaking barnet that can double up as a mobile coke dispensary. And there's also the small matter of being able to emulate one of the most gifted singers on the planet. And all for it just to be on the telly box. What actress under 30 wouldn't be hammering down the door? Natalie Portman will be first in that line.
