That being 'Bawbwa Walters'. Indeed, Piers is yet another Brit set on dominating American telly with his condescending drawl. So enamoured are NBC with his paint by numbers level of suave that he is "pretty close" to inking a deal with them.
The new prime-time show would feature him talking one-on-one to those in the headlines, with the sole goal of making them blub on telly. And, if reports are to be believed, some commentators (namely Piers himself) believe he could be America's "next Barbara Walters."
When speaking with the New York Post, Morgan said: "Back in England, I am actually better known as an interviewer (and a smug git). In this country, there is a bit of a gap in the market. Barbara Walters has just [semi-]retired, and I think there is an opportunity there for me. I do one-on-ones - like Barbara Walters. I am not an entertainment talk-show, late-night kind of [guy]. It is more biographical interviews. I have the number-one talk show in England (?!). Certainly, NBC thinks it is the time to try to do something."
Morgan, 45, has appeared as a correspondent on NBC's Today show - and quizzed stars on the red carpet at the Oscars for the network.
Red Carpet fodder. How very biographically one-on-one. You wouldn't catch Jonathan Ross doing that.
