Meath County Councillor Alan Tobin caused quite a stir last night with his comments about certain dog breeds.

Tobin posted the below photo on his Facebook page, bringing attention to the new signs erected in Meath warning people about guidelines that are now in place for certain dog breeds when they are in public. The breeds listed include American Pit Bull Terriers, Bull Mastiffs, Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Doberman Pinschers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Rottweilers, German Shepards, English Bull Terriers, Japanese Akita and Japanese Tosa.

He labelled the dogs 'dangerous' and criticised those who think that these breeds could be 'ideal family pets'.

While the post did have some support, there was an overwhelming negative reaction to it.
