Paddy power are known for being controversial, but their latest ad ahead of the marriage referendum is causing quite a storm.

The ad is designed to promote the fact that the company is offering odds on the result of the upcoming marriage equality referendum, but it has been getting a huge amount of criticism since it was first spotted today. The image depicts two men in balaclavas kissing, with the headline "tiocfaidh ár lá".

The ad has been making its way around the streets of Dublin since early this morning, and is getting plenty of attention as a result.

The accompanying press release that detailed the odds on the outcome of the election went with the headline "squeaky bum time for gay marriage punters", and has drawn widespread criticism for being offensive, and going too far.
