Met Eireann has issued an orange weather alert for the West of Ireland - specifically Wexford, Waterford, Cork, Kerry, Clare, Galway and Mayo - until 6PM tomorrow, whilst issuing a yellow weather alert for the rest of the country.

Gusts of westerly wind are expected to batter the south and west of Ireland with speeds of 110 to 130 kilometres an hour. Meanwhile, the rest of the country is expected to see gusts of up to 110 kilometres an hour for the next twenty-four hours.

Flooding has now affected the midlands, with some parts of the country still without power. Meanwhile, across the Irish Sea in Great Britain, rainfall of 15mm to 25mm is expected with some areas expected to see upwards of 60mm in isolated areas.
