Nightclub mogul Peter Stringfellow has died at the age of 77.
The Sheffield-born businessman and television personality, perhaps best known for launching his line of 'gentlemen's clubs' - one of which opened in Dublin in 2006 before closing after just five months - had been battling cancer but wanted to keep his illness out of the public eye, reports suggest.
He leaves behind his wife, Bella and their young children Rosabella and Angelo, as well as two grown-up children from previous relationships, Karen and Scott.
Social media has been paying tribute to him this morning:

Sad to hear of the death of Peter Stringfellow; used to chat to him quite regularly when I covered the West End a decade or so ago; he was always willing to chat, though always something of a surreal experience when he was holding court on his gold throne in his club

Shocked to wake up to the news that Peter Stringfellow has died - one of the many characters I got to meet and know during my diary days at the Telegraph, who was always a generous host and enjoyed chatting about politics. Deepest condolences to Bella and his children. RIP pic.twitter.com/LFCTR4d9YF

Peter Stringfellow. That’s one person who won’t be arriving at the Pearly Gates thinking, “If only I’d...”
Except perhaps, “... lived longer”.
Got to be thinking of the young ones he’s left behind.— Greg Scott (@GregScottTV) June 7, 2018
RIP Peter Stringfellow. I have no idea why I met you - kids’ tv was weird in the 90s. pic.twitter.com/Hw3BXRyurY
