Do you know someone who's a lazy git? Doesn't get out of bed until they ABSOLUTELY have to?

They could soon find a job with NASA. The US space agency wants volunteers to take part in a study that will explore the effects of sleep atrophy.

The findings of the study are to be used for deep-space travel, which would see astronauts put into stasis and then woken up when they're needed.

It's basically a staple of all sci-fi, like Aliens, Interstellar and Star Wars.

The study, which will see volunteers earn up to $18,000, will require them lie flat on a bed for 70 days and be subjected to regular testing.

Keep in mind, you'll have to eat, sleep, poo, pee and do everything in bed. We're guessing there's some sort of commode for the poo / pee stuff.

Dr. Roni Cromwell, the chief science person behind the study, says that's it not for everyone.

"Once they qualify physically and mentally, we do rigorous physical exercises to test muscle strength and aerobics capacity. We want people who have the physical and psychological characteristics of an astronaut. They should be able to do the kind of activities that astronauts do."

Which is what exactly? Float around? Have great hair? We can do that, Doctor. Sign us up and stuff.

If you fancy giving it a go, you can apply online right here.
